Kathmandu 01 Dec: With the motive of social awareness among the youths, the training for “The College Ambassador 2009” is being held in Hotel Pension Vassana. During the training session contestant were visited to Balmandir , where they shared the helping hand by providing different goods on 25th of November. Likewise on another social visit to Sidhi Saligram Bridashram at Bhaktapur organiser Green Arts Media and all 42 participants handover the shawl and arranged a food for the day on 28th of November.

Kathmandu, Dec 01 2009: United States of America has been playing a leading role in supporting Nepal to fight back AIDS since it was first seen in the late eighties. The British Government has played a pivotal role in assisting Nepal to the rapid rolling out of life saving antiretroviral treatment (ART) that today covers over 3500 people Living with AIDS. As WHO is suggesting the ART treatment eligibility criteria threshold to be increased to 350 from the current 200 levels, it is very likely that those needing treatment will double in the coming months.

Dec 1, 2009 Kathmandu: Universal Access for Children affected by AIDS in Nepal (UCAAN) participated in the 22nd World AIDS Day program held today at Khula Mancha in Kathmandu. With assistance from NAP+N, UCAAN secretariat set up a stall at the event to promote the diverse partnership of UCAAN and advocate and sensitize the general mass regarding children affected by AIDS in Nepal (CABA).

Kathmandu 23 Nov, 09: Study shows  Nepal government of Nepal, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and UK Department  of international Development (DIFID) jointly launched the findings of the 2009 Maternal Mortality and Morbidity study. The current study is the follow up of the 1998 Maternal mortality and Morbidity study done to investigate factors associated with maternal and morbidity in Nepal, particularly the causes of maternal morbidity.

Salyan, Nov. 22: Nineteen oxen and 12 cows of Subiskot VDC died of unknown disease.

The disease has the symptoms of weakness, grunting and saliva release. District Livestock Office, Salyan sent the team of 3 members to the disease affected area along with vaccine and medicine.

Kathmandu, Nov. 21:

Universal Access for Children Affected by AIDS in Nepal (UCAAN) held an awareness programme while marking the 46th Universal Children Day.

UCAAN in a press statement stated that the event was aimed at informing the public about children affected by AIDS in non-stigmatizing environment. The statement further urged for the protection of affected children. UCAAN demanded enhanced social and legal protection, justice and alternative cares for addressing the discrimination, abuse, and exploitation of those affected children.

Dhankuta, Nov. 21: Netra Jyoti Sangh with the help of Biratnagar eye hospital organized a 3-day eye camp in the district headquarters. In the camp 500 patients underwent the eye treatment.

The organizer informed that till Friday only 100 patients underwent eye surgery. Similarly, 5 children with critical condition are taken to Biratnagar eye hospital for surgery. Patients from Panchthar, Terathum, Sankhuwasabha, and Bhojpur visited the Camp.

Kathmandu, Nov. 2009: Students of Shree Balmandir Secondary School of Khopasi, Panauti-12, today returned home after they tested negative to Pandemic Influenza A H1N1. Around 70 students have gone on an educational tour to Illam, organized by the school, when a student died after going unconscious. But the students feared that their colleague died of swine flu.

Biratnagar, Nov. 20, 2009: A meeting to form a joint mechanism to prevent bird flu in Nepal, India and Bangladesh concluded on Thursday. Dr. Yogendra Yadav of Eastern Regional Livestock Directorate said that the meeting was held with an overview to charting out a common strategy to check out bird flu which has also affected Nepal, Bangladesh and India.

Myagdi, Nov. 20, 2009: Child Labour Club, Dhaulagiri with the support of Remote Environment and Empowerment Centre (REEC) organized one day free health camp in Piple of Myagdi. Dayaram Poudel, VDC Secretary, informed that the camp was organized focusing poor community where 200 people from Piple VDC-5, 6, and 7 received the free health service.
Somnath Adhikari, HA head of Myagdi District Hospital, and Shiva Prasad Pandey, Incharge of Piple Sub-health Post provided the service in the camp.

Myagdi, Nov. 20, 2009: Ram Narayan Mandal, physician head of Chhusang health post was honored by the locals.Prakash Gurung, former president of the VDC, said that he was honored with the amount of Rs. 200 thousand for his regular and effective contribution to the health post since fifteen years.
