UCAAN participates in 22nd World AIDS Day program, Wins Award Print

Dec 1, 2009 Kathmandu: Universal Access for Children affected by AIDS in Nepal (UCAAN) participated in the 22nd World AIDS Day program held today at Khula Mancha in Kathmandu. With assistance from NAP+N, UCAAN secretariat set up a stall at the event to promote the diverse partnership of UCAAN and advocate and sensitize the general mass regarding children affected by AIDS in Nepal (CABA).

Representatives from various INGOs, NGOs, Government agencies and general public visited the UCAA stall to view various IEC materials related to UCAAN and CABA that was contributed by UCAAN partners.  UCAAN secretariat assisted to orient the visitors regarding the UCAAN partnership, its working mechanism, progress made till date and the issues at hand related to CABA. UCAAN Brand Ambassadors Manavi Dhakal and Saloni Rajbhandari were present at the event to promote UCAAN and interacted with the visitors, answering queries from everyone.

In addition, UCAAN continued the signature campaign that was started during the Universal Children’s Day on November 20, 2009 to garner support for Nepali children. US Embassy Chargé d'affaires Randy Barry visited the stall and signed the banner to show his commitment to the issue of CABA in Nepal.

Also during the program, the World AIDS Day organizing committee held a stall decoration competition and UCAAN Stall won the consolation prize along with a cash prize of NRs. 1,000.

The money is to been deposited into the UCAAN account for use in the future towards activities benefiting CABA children in Nepal.
