How would you describe Hardic? It is a totally medical based health club which, with main objectives to prevent health related complications, is a little different from other health club. It aims at keeping people fit and away from non- communicable disease like heart attack, blood pressure, depression, asthma. It also provides facilities of medical check-up for members. Although a health club is generally supposed to be a body building and recreation centre, Hardic is more than this as it provides health services for rehabilitation and prevention of diseases.
As a high altitude specialist, I had chances to visit various countries for research. What I learnt from such visits is that more people suffer from non-communicable diseases than the contagious ones. This finally led me to set up a club to assist people stay away from such non-infectious diseases. About 40 years ago, we would think that only people above 4o suffer from heart diseases but now we see that people in their twenties are suffering from these and other non-communicable diseases. Females are suffering from stone cancer, uterus cancer. It is found out that these diseases can be prevented and the trend reversed. And Hardic has this as an objective. It is totally treatment based through recreation because, we believe, all these diseases have roots in unhealthy modern lifestyles in which people lack any physical exercise. Around 60% modern diseases are related to our lifestyles. We basically aim at curing and preventing luxury induced diseases. With tips for good health, we also provide visitors psychological treatment.
When did the organization establish? It has been 10 years since Hardic started. It has one ISO certified Aastha Health Club where mainly preventive treatment is carried out. What are other facilities?

We have a highly sophisticated clinic- Aastha Health Club. For physical exercise and recreation we have a gym with American equipments, aerobics centre and aerobic dance. Facilities of Ayurvedic message section, beauty salon with different treatment, restaurant with low cost quality food, and security are the other salient features of Hardic. What are the most liked facilities? Gym, badminton, aerobics and swimming are favoured by many. In summer most people visit for swimming. What difficulty are you facing to sustain the club? It is not easy to run a health club as ours is not a commercial venture. It is impossible to run such health club without service oriented manpower. People make heavy bargain even for our economic facilities. What do you except from the government? What to except from the government when the Health Ministry is unhealthy in itself. It compares health club with night club and charges tax. Although it is a responsibility of the government to make people aware of health hazards, it discourages those who working for the same. We work keeping in mind that prevention is better than cure. So, the government should give due attention to health clubs which are fit and accessible for all the groups rather giving attention to other specialized and advanced health institution. |
